There's nothing like a Nikon DSLR, every picture comes out amazing, they can turn any person into a professional photographer. The Nikon D90 instantly became my favorite camera, all I do now is snap pictures of my daughter and it really makes any random picture look like a professional portrait. DSLR's are generally more confusing to use than your ordinary Point-And-Shoot camera but you don't need to learn it all to use it. The auto feature is an excellent judge of the surroundings and leaves very little controlling up to you all you have to do is zoom to the prefect distance and snap.

The Nikon D90 is 12 megapixels RAW & JPG and can also record 720p HD video!!!

One of the main reasons why I like this camera is because I can just hold down the shooting button and it keeps taking pictures at extremely fast rates, so not only does it take the first picture instantly so you don't miss the moment but it also can keep shooting until you get just the right shot. In order for the camera to be able to take so many shots in a row you need to have a fast memory stick, the fastest memory stick now is the SanDisk Extreme III it writes at 30MB per second, and the sizes go up to 16GB.

It's also compatible with the new Nikon GP-1 which automatically geo-tags all your photos with the longitude, latitude, height, and local time. there are more and more uses nowadays for geo-tagging, not only can you always go back and automatically see where on the map you took each picture using Google earth or other services, but if your a fan on iPhoto the new version adds a whole new bunch of neat features just for geo-tags.

Nikon's are known for their lenses, no matter how old or new your lens is or how old or new your camera is, they will always work with each other, so if you have any old Nikon lenses from the non-digital era they'll work on the new ones. The perfect lens for a beginner and the most used common lens for professionals is the 18-200 lens ($599) which is good for close and far range, its the only lens I use. But if you don't want to splurge $600 on a lens you can buy the package deal which is the Nikon D90 and The 18-105 lens all for $1199. Only buy real Nikon lenses they are the best quality.
